Take Along Bags

•

Last week we took a trip to Nashville to visit my mom. On the way there, we brought our 5 year old niece to stay with grandma for a week, and we picked up my 17 year old son to bring him home from visiting grandma. I made up two Take-Along Bags; one for each of them.
One contained picture books, coloring books, drawing pad, crayons, pens, stuffed animals, figurines, a small Lego set, and a doll.
The other contained drawing pencils, eraser and sharpener, drawing pad, logic puzzle books, a deck of cards, single player travel games (Tangrams, Bananagrams, the game where you have to rearrange the tiles to get one of them out of the maze), and travel Taboo to play together.
I also had a cooler of snacks and drinks and a lap board (travel table).
Despite the older one having a cell phone with games on it, he enjoyed the activities I’d surprised him with.
Take-Along Bags are great for waiting in a doctor’s office, visiting an older relative in a quiet environment, bringing to the restaurant to keep occupied and seated while waiting for dinner to arrive, and any place a child is expected to sit quietly and will likely feel bored. And, as evidenced in the picture, they’re never too old for Take-Along Bags.
